Permaculture Design Consultations

Practical guidance for creating productive, resilient landscapes rooted in living systems.

Urban Village Designs provides on-site design consultations that help you understand your landscape, identify opportunities, and develop a clear path forward for your property.

Our Design Consultations

A design consultation is a collaborative site visit where we walk your property, observe existing patterns, and explore practical strategies for improving the health, productivity, and usability of your landscape. Rather than focusing on installation, these meetings focus on helping you understand your land and develop a thoughtful plan that can evolve over time.

Clients often use consultations to clarify goals, identify priorities, and receive actionable recommendations for moving forward.

During a consultation we typically explore:

• Existing site conditions

• Sun, wind, water, and soil patterns

• Opportunities for food production

• Habitat and ecological health

• Layout and flow of landscape elements

• Practical steps for implementation

Each consultation is guided by core permaculture principles such as observing patterns, stacking functions, and designing systems where elements support one another.

Design Workbooks

Each consultation includes a guided workbook that we use together during the meeting. The workbook helps structure our time on site and creates space to record observations, ideas, and recommendations as they emerge. The pages walk through key steps of the design process, including:

• grounding into place and clarifying goals

• observing existing conditions on the property

• identifying patterns of sun, wind, water, and soil

• exploring design possibilities

• stacking functions and connecting landscape elements

• identifying practical next steps

Clients leave the consultation with a completed workbook that serves as a reference for future decisions and ongoing development of the landscape.

The workbook becomes a living document that clients can return to as their landscape evolves.

We believe meaningful change happens in relationship—with land, with people, and over time. If that resonates, we’d love to walk alongside you in tending what you steward.

Drake and crew are an inspiration to work with! She has a great sense of design and knows when to check in with the client to make sure she's on the right track. It's great to work with someone who understands sustainable landscaping and maintenance for urban and rural settings.
