Living Systems Design

Permaculture design for land, community, and organizations.

I work across site design, community relationships, and organizational systems to support projects in becoming more integrated, resilient, and able to evolve over time.

What this Is

Whole-systems design rooted in permaculture.

This work can focus on:

  • Land and site design

  • Community Development

  • Organizational structure

  • The integration between them

Depending on the project, we may work at one level or across multiple.

Focus Areas

This work can focus on:

  • Permaculture Site Design - How a site functions as a whole, plant selection, food systems, animal integrations, native habitat, water catchment, educational spaces and more

  • Community Relationships - Identifying stakeholders of a project and designing systems that work for them, including but not limited to:

    • Humans and wildlife

    • Impacted neighbors

    • Partner organizations

  • Organizational Systems - Guiding infrastructure that supports holistic project care over time:

    • Structure, roles, programs, agreements, decision-making

The goal is to create systems that work for people while supporting the long-term health of the landscapes, communities, and organizations they depend on.

Ideal Projects

Projects where land, people, and purpose are all active parts of the system.

  • Nonprofits or educational spaces on land
  • Community-centered or multi-use properties

  • Ecovillages or shared land projects

  • Retreat centers or land-based businesses

The goal is to create systems that work for people while supporting the long-term health of the landscapes, communities, and organizations they depend on.

How I Work

I take on 1–2 projects at a time.

  • Clarify vision and system relationships

  • Develop an integrated design

  • Support implementation as needed

Experience

10+ years in permaculture and land-based design, alongside building and supporting organizations and community projects—including scaling a design business to a team of 10 and 50+ clients.

I bring both land design and systems thinking to the same table.

Drake and crew are an inspiration to work with! She has a great sense of design and knows when to check in with the client to make sure she's on the right track. It's great to work with someone who understands sustainable landscaping and maintenance for urban and rural settings.

I believe meaningful change happens in relationship—with land, with people, and over time. If that resonates, I’d love to walk alongside you in tending what you steward.
